at the risk of sounding hideously parochial, I would like to commend and lift
up the NCSU horticulture students and faculty, much devoted to the whole
plant.  Many of the faculty, students, and like-minded members of the
community are volunteers/suppporters of the NCSU Arboretum. Iris is/are
featured, of course.   
   I would like to know when exactly one should harvest iris seed pods...I
hear that it may take 2 or 3 months.  Mine have been pods for about 3 weeks,
and are still bright green. Are there never-fail signs of ripeness?
