Hi Marte...

The 1998 convention is in Denver on June 2 to 6. Convention headquarters is
the Marriot-Denver Tech Center (?).

There are many reasons to join the iris society... first and foremost of
them, of course, is the AIS Bulletin - comes out 4 times a year and is full
of a full spectrum of information:

- technical articles
- fun articles
- cultural articles on various varieties.... from various perspectives
- articles on people and gardens

In addition, there are the 'girlie pictures', the pictures of the latest and
greatest... AND there are pages and pages of iris advertising! Lots of
obscure and lesser known irises and iris sellers to 'discover' there.

The Denver club is an active one and becoming a member of a club helps you to
hone your cultural skills for the area in which you live...PLUS meet all
kinds of groovy people who will talk to you endlessly about your iris passion
(which is why you cannot get my sweet Leonard to a meeting without heavy
doses of drugs and wild promises).

Most clubs offer garden tours, picnics, private sales, and fun, fun, fun till
your daddy takes the T-bird away.

AIS dues are $18 a year... a bargain any way you look at it.
