<If a cv, say Apollodorus appeared on your list, was it a "try to bloom"
(130) or was it a "living plant" (of your 270)?>

It was a 'bloomed at least one stalk normally'. Of the around 375 varieties
(mostly TBs) that I have tried to grow over the years, 270 of them are still
here. Most of the others died; a few of the better growers that refused to
bloom for me went to the local sale.

There were 46 'try to bloom' failures (not listed). Some of them had fairly
normal blooms, but were either on short or very stunted stalks. By short, I
mean conspicuously below normal height (less than knee high for TBs); by very
stunted, I mean often with lowest bloom right on the ground, or most of the
stalk killed or otherwise badly deformed. Most of the SDBs and MTBs didn't
even try to bloom, but most were new this year.

In case that is still confusing
total irises I have tried to grow = about 375
total still living here = about 270
total that tried to bloom = about 130
total that were successful = 84
total that did well = about 40
