I hope I am picking up the right strand of this thread, as I have been
off-line since Friday when my ISP was swallowed by a bigger fish which is
having trouble digesting it, but if we are talking about the requirements
for entering an iris in an AIS Show, then clearly, an entry in the
Horticultural Division must be named, i.e., registered. On page C-3 of the
Handbook for Judges and Show Officials, it states that "Entries in the
Seedling Division consist of any unintroduced iris of any type which cannot
be entered in any other division of the show." In the Siberian Section of
the Handbook (C-14, page C-55) it talks about exhibition judging of
*Introduced Varieties*, and by inference consigns all others to the
seedling division.

The language of the Judges' Handbook is open to varying interpretations,
but there is an arguable case - particularly with Siberians - that
registered but unintroduced cultivars are only eligible for entry in the
Seedling Division.
