Yes, unfortunately it is not all that unusual for an iris to not bloom every
year. If it does not bloom the next year check what is happening to the
roots and anyother chemicals you or a neighbor may be using, how much shade
does it get ect. By Year three if it hasn't bloomed- pitch it. Sometimes an
iris rhizome
is setting babies so fast there isn't energy for the bloom. Remember the
function of a bloom as far as the plant is concerned (if they have concerns)
is to reproduce seeds.
