Hi, Kathy! "Lackawanna" is also the title of an extraordinary poem by
Galway Kinnell. I ran across it while browsing "Paris Review" two or three
years ago, and it "blowed my doors off" as we say hereabouts. It's rather a
long poem and has nothing to do with irises, so I won't reproduce it here,
but if you'd like to see it, e-mail me privately and I'll keyboard it in
for you. Kinnell is one of the great contemporary poets, IMHO. Some of his
early works are nature-obsessed, and would please gardeners.
