CULT: Iris Borers

Peter,
     I use Lindane to control the Iris Borer.  I apply it (with Spreader
Sticker added) to the Irises when they get six to eight inches tall.  In
some years, it is necessary to re-treat a few clumps but this is not
usually necessary.  
     Although Lindane has been a good friend to me, I would advise that it
be used with caution because it is quite potent and some questions
concerning its safety have arisen.  I think that it has been banned in a
few states.  I tried Cygon once and had very poor results.
