TB: Purple Pods

Hi Everyone!

There has been discussion on this list about TBs with purple-based foliage
(pbf), mostly related to the project being spearheaded by Sharon McAllister
to identify cultivars that exhibit this characteristic.

One of the cultivars growing here that has pbf, though it is rather faint,
and seems to be confined to the center of the leaves, not extending to the
margins, is TENNESEE GENTLMAN (Innerst, 91). I pollinated some flowers of
this cultivar this spring, and now that the pods are well-developed they
are almost completely purple with green showing only near the base of the
pods. The bloom stalk is also streaked with purple.

I also have some pods on TENNESSEE WOMAN (Innerst, 90), which has much more
intense pbf than TG, but the stalks and pods on TW are completely green.
