Oh Margie, pinks with pink beards. Wouldn't you rather have pinks with
tangerine beards? :-) Those we have by the dozens.
But pinks with pink beards. Off the top of my inexperienced head I can
think of BASHFUL BRIDE.
Looking in the Checklists under "P" and picking introduced cultivars, I
found PINK GRACES (Johnson '81), PINK INTERLUDE (Simon '84), PINKNESS
(Byers '88), PINK PRAIRIE (Dyer, 78), PINK ATTIRE (Schmelzer '75), PINK
BOWS (Shoop '75), PINKIE (Foote 71), PINK SPLASH (Schmelzer '72), PINK
JUBILEE (Palmer 92) ... oh, why go on? There are many pinks.

I realize only a Philistine would think this, but you know there are too
many of one color when the hybridizer has to qualify its tone or hue with
elegantly over-specific adjectives ... baby ribbon, orient, aconite,
erythronite, chromium, capucine, toasted, tanner, golden glow, dandelion,
cowslip, wistaria (it comes in different colors!), jonquil, forsythia ... .

Probably I should delight in the creativity, huh. And the specificity. For
the folks who have the color charts at their fingertips, these words really
make sense.
But then there are people like my friend. My friend is convinced "coral"
means buff or pale tan. Well, some coral is in real life, but don't you
assume when they call a beard "coral" that beard will be a reddish orange?
I moved her off "coral" and onto "shrimp" and felt rather pleased with
myself until she asked, "Cooked or uncooked?"
But we've complained about color descrips before.
