JAP: Disastrous bloom season

Although a few Japanese Irises bloomed this season, the Japanese bloom
season can best be described as "Disastrous." Early growth was weak
because of the much cooler than usual temperatures and almost total lack of
sunlight. When the sun did start appearing occasionally a couple of weeks
ago, the Irises fried. Even some of the foliage scorched. I think that
the plant cells that had developed in the total lack of sunlight could not
could not take the light.
Recently, there was some discussion on the location of "Iris Heaven."
I can tell you that Lexington, Kentucky is Iris Hell. (Excuse the term,
but it is the truth.)
