SHOW REPORT

From: "Carryl M. Meyer" <carrylm@bigsky.net>

The second of the two shows in Boise was held over the holiday weekend--and
as usual, there was wind and rain Friday night and again Saturday
morning--but in spite of bad weather, there were many TB's and others
entered in the show. Celebration Song was 'Best of Show'--really good
looking--3 blooms out--the first runner-up was Ask Alma--a '86 IB from C.
Lankow--and twas about the bestlooking IB seen in many years.
While there, visited the gardens of Lucille Pinkston--she hybridized
"OWYHEE DESERT" a couple years ago--and you should see the siblings!!!
Pretty much the same patterns, but all different colors--from dark to very
pastel--if we have our way, there twill be more OWYHEE ____________ in the
years to come.
In the second year bed, it was realy interesting to see all the
siblings--at least 6-8 of them--and good form and bud count--she has many
others which look good and will hopt to introduce some of them in the next
couple years.
Also visited Tony DeRose's new place--about 3 acres of seedlings-some TDF-
- some of his space agers have such big horns--like a complete floral
bouquet at the end of the beard!!!!! And he has a really green TB--not
yellow green--but really green!! Something is there in the ground which
really enhances the colors--and the height---I came home to mine--less
color in the blues and purples and less height--on the same
varieties--really disgusting.
Did see many fields of Missouriensis--along the Idaho-Oregon line--had not
seen them that far west before now--some areas in Eastern Montana have many
large clumps of them--but the ones in Idaho were more blue and less
lavender than the ones in eastern Montana--
It does one good to go to judge a show in an area away from your own--it is
amazing the difference in shows and how they are run--
Our show is next weekend--should be about right for the TB's
Now have about 70 SDB and IB out and when it quits raining and turns warm
many more should burst forth--
