Which is why more information in checklist would be helpful, not so much for
naming an iris as to eliminating possiblies. Even when getting our iris
from the growers mistakes do occur. Thankfully this rarely happens. We
have a member a man who goes to great lengths to make sure his iris are
correctly named, he is also wonderful about sharing his iris with others. A
problem occurred when he created a bed of all black iris. He has been
giving everyone a black from the blue-violet side which he has identified as
STUDY IN BLACK. It didn't look like the one I grow previously a red black.
Now at our show all the STUDY IN BLACKs are his or ones he has given away
when a red black is put in this group everyone assumes this red black is
wrong...... I have seen judges with catalogs using the pictures to identify
iris and we all know how inaccurate these pictures can be.. Anyone else
seen pictures of fire engine red iris in catalogs?

Carl Fisher Mio,MI Zone 4 sand were the show is tomorrow and I'm hopeing
we have 20 culitvars
