Steve,
Here in hot , Auckland New Zealand, I find that large amounts
of water helps,
Growing JI's in polythene bags or pots [plastic or terra-cotta]
standing in the water.
Ten or twelve inch pots in bins of water or on the marginal shelf of
my ponds,
The water level is up to 11/2" above the base of the leaves.
with acid soluble fertiliser in the water at very regular intervals, every
week or two, and shade for half a day the grow very rapidly and
make very tall flower spikes [up to five feet] 1.65m to is the best so
far. Also with the heat in summer and what is a very mild winter I get
good growth and increase with the JI's in water all year round.
