Dear Bill,
Downtown Orlando has several interesting sites--Church St. for the
evening;but around the downtown lake near the public library, check that
out.In the surrounding areas, there are several. One of my favorites bec/
we live in Polk Country is Bok Tower in Lake Wales, which is beautiful and
peaceful--take a picnic lunch when you go; highest elevation on the
peninsula; its ridge area is part of the Ancient Islands of Florida. Going
toward the west coast you can find some gardens also. Cypress Gardens is in
Winter Haven, very close to Bok Tower in Lake Wales. Its Butterfly
Conservatory is neat. Check out websites for central Florida and you'll get
more information. Of course, there's always Disney-Epcot, and Universal
Studios in Orlando; then Busch Gardens in Tampa; all of these you will
spend lots of money. We had enough of the city life and moved to the
country to get away from all the traffic and busyness and crime...Have a
great trip!
My son, Alan, went to the Jr. Olympics about 3 years ago when they were in
New Orleans at the Super Dome. He won first place--a gold medal for tae
kwondo for his size, status, etc. Now, he's a Marine getting ready to go to
Japan for a year.
Sincerely, Barbara
