*BIG* thing to consider is that you can't just use 1/2" pvc. You then
get some of those huge stalks and they can't be exhibited properly. I
actually hate PVC pipe containers, but the logistics and ease of
storage has been the biggest hook. >>

Good points. Our club went to these a few years ago and they have
advantages. Breaking the units down into individual pieces does decrease the
need for storage space. Getting the club together to manufacture them might
not have been so easy.

HOWEVER, storage tends to damage wooden bases, and there is the problem of
matching the bases with the pipes in the following years. Fit is not always
good and can lead to wobblings and tilting. Then shims of some sort come
into play. Pieces of foam are good for stabilizing the stalk, but what about
the pipe itself? Broken tooth picks? It takes something from the asthetic
value of the show, and leaves SERIOUS room for pre-judging disasters.

I know the switch has been good for those storing the containers (we went
from half gallon jugs to pipes), but they leave a bit to be desired when it
comes to an attractive show.

MY OPINION ONLY.

Betty in Bowling Green, KY . . . singing and dancing after finding a two foot
stalk on SUMMER RADIANCE today (June 25) ! Trah, lah, lah, lah!!! **** ;-)
