Mornin' all...

Got some pictures back yesterday, one roll of which I was not sure where it
came. Gorgeous irises. Some gorgeous exhibition show pictures too, none of
which came readily to mind as to where or when taken. Finally, some folks
stepped away from the banner for me to realize it said "Iris Society of
Dallas"... Yee Gads! These were taken almost two years ago when I went down
to enter a bunch of medians in April at the Dallas Show and ended up getting
shanghaied into judging the TB section of the show.

The garden shots were of gorgeous TB seedlings (mostly) in Hooker & Bonnie
Nichols garden over in east Dallas. Forget whatever the seedling numbers
are/were, heck, by now --- they could have won awards! I had taken all these
with one of my little Kodak Advantix cameras. They are so convenient to drop
in your pocket and have available to shoot in a hurry. My newest one is one
of the micro-mini's. The shots rival that of my Canon EOS cameras any day of
the week. I like the versatility of the 4x6, 4x7, and 4x11 photo sizes as
well.

I gotta start getting a little better organized! The crowning blow on the
final pictures (many were 4 x 11 panoramics) were mounds of creeping phlox in
all colors as far as you could see, interspersed with redbuds and crabapples
in full bloom. The Muskogee Oklahoma Azalea Festival that year was running a
little behind, but the trip was made worthwhile by the phlox & trees.
Absolutely breathtaking.

Tomorrow I will get out and shoot the thousands of daffodils (about 30
varieties so far) in bloom here at the Poore-House. My daffodils are
probably at early to mid-peak season. Coupled with all the flowering Quince,
the Razzleberry bush at full tilt, and various and sundry cale, cabbage,
crocus, and early hyacinths, the February bloom has been exceptional. No
chance all these daffodils will make it to the March 25th OKC Daffodil show,
not a chance. I'd planned to travel to Tulsa for Hooker Nichols TB & TB
Seedling judging school anyway. Here's hoping the March weather will let the
good daffodil bloom continue! The iris reticulata are not enjoying our heat
nor high winds and we still need rain desperately... The little irises are
passing quickly.

Have a good Thursday!
