Re: zoo manure

From: Carolyn Schaffner <drsnooks@buffnet.net>

Rosalie -- we USED to be able to see elephants, but the Zoo received a
pile of money to redo the pens so they could breed elephants. It seems
the bulls are distracted by the flashing lights of passing cars. So they
put up a huge wall.

The Zoo has been feuding with the surrounding community (which is a huge
Park on one side and on the other side of the street, an Olmsted
designed National Historic District, by the way) for YEARS! Thus the
wall!

Several inquiries have been made about acquiring their ZOO POOH for one
organization or another. I don't know where it goes, but they don't
spread it around!

I'm not sure what the elephant/tiger/monkey/emu/bison/etc pooh would do
in the home garden. Wherever it goes, it is full of straw and VERY
SMELLY!

The organization for which I am currently president is using their
meeting space on April 6, sort of in exchange for establishing a garden
plot or two. It's nice to have a cordial start to a project that could
be interesting. Hey, you never know. Meeting room today, ZOO POOH
tomorrow!

Carolyn - how wonderful to be so close to a zoo! And to see the
giraffes
even without going! BUT - have you tried to get some zoo manure - I
wonder
what elephants' would do to irises! Or Giraffes'? Turn them into
Jack's
beanstalk? What a golden opportunity! They probably sell it to
mushroom
growers, but maybe you could get a small amount in the name of science!
