SOCIETY: hogties

From: Carolyn Schaffner <drsnooks@buffnet.net>

>Hogtie them I guess.

I've considered the purchase of a VAN, equipped with gardening tools and
extra plants and several solid volunteers, to arrive at the garden of
reluctant members where we will till the soil, plant, and water. Maybe
the additional hogtie activity will ....

REALISTICALLY ===> Some of "us" have (tentatively) come to these
conclusions:

that there are at least these four types of members:

1) Commercial/Hybridizers
2) Facilitators
3) Member members
4) Green Meanies

AND that a Society's function is to meet the needs of all the people all
the time. In general, that requires offering a large variety of programs
and activities so that at least some of the people are pleased some of
the time.

AND to realize that no matter WHAT a Society does, some of the people
will not be pleased most (all?) of the time!

AND that most of the responsibility for being pleased/active lies with
the members. We can't FORCE 'em to attend, or CONTROL their interests!
The best we can do is make the offer(s).

AND that some people just want to grow the plants! (A Society is, after
all, all about a flower!)
