In general, I will cast my 'form vote' for those irises produced by
Schreiners, using SILVERADO as an example. S is perfection in
my book. Near Schreiner's at other iris hybridizing
establishments in that county and the neighboring one, a new form
seems to be developing, particularly with selfs, which includes the
following characteristics I consider bad.

	A) Tightly swirled standards that are impossible to open for the
purpose of hybridizing without damaging the bloom.

	B) Overlapping hafts that are much too broad, keeping the
flower from opening without help.

	C) Ice cream scoop falls that never flatten out or fall at an angle
that is pleasing.

I don't know if my observations are the same as the laundry
basket effect, John mentioned. It used to be the FIVE STAR
ADMIRAL form, which never took off and apparently is being revived.

Donald brought up a good point about form and color pattern.
Darker colors and plicatas, thus far, have not been introduced with
such form, or I have missed them completely if they have.

form...neither too tailored nor too fat and fluffy)
