Well, Sterling, having heard about sports for quite some time, I searched for
the definition of them for several years before I received an answer. Most
people I spoke with didn't know the answer and it wasn't listed in the index
of The World of Iris, one of my main references in those years. When I
finally got an answer, I may have been too quick to accept it. Perhaps, I
should have kept searching!
Isn't the white BEVERLY SILL the same except for color? I've never grown it
and don't even know it's name.
If it can be any deviation as you describe, how can you tell the difference
in this or a stray seedling? (bee pod) The only way to tell would be to
observe attached rhizomes blooming simultaneously, separate the rhizomes, and
then grow them for a period of time to maintain separate but consistent
differences? How many have done this? Is it possible that ALL sports are
just bee pods in disguise? (Just joking)
Betty from Bowling Green, KY where someone stole spring! (gasp!) The season
is probably 2 weeks ahead. If this continues, show tables will be bare.
