Thanks for the welcomes to the group. I have been reeding the mail for a week
or so but haven't responded before. This indeed is Chuck Chapman. Hybridizer
and garden owner. My catalog has not yet been sent to printer so I've been
rather preoccupied and havn't taken the time to post any thing. I'll try to
get a copy of photos of my new things ready to post to internet. Spring has
just sprung here with the danfordia blooming March 21st, a couple of weeks
earlier then usual, a sign of an early bloom season. A couple of hours in the
garden over the weekend replanting heaved plants and stepping on the ones that
haven't been heaved too badly. This is a task unknown to those in milder
climates and climates that have snow cover. Here we are in zone 5a/6b Canadian
or about zone 4 USA. Cold winters with mild spells (thaws) and inconsistent
snow cover. Walking on the Iris is a spring ritual that works well if the
plants are heaved only a little. This climate is hard on iris plants but the
up side is that seedlings that do well have survived stringent weather tests
and so far my plants also handle the warmer weather of Texas & California.
