Probably irrelevant to the actual usage of the word as a color pattern
in irises, but shadows (umbrae?) tend to have sharp edges rather than
the kind of streaky wash in HONKY TONK BLUES and MONSIGNOR.
These dark bursts of color on HTB and M look more like something
splattered than like a shadow. How about splaterata or burstata?
What's latin for splatter & burst?
