UNKNOWN NOT WABASH

John suggested that I send this request for help identifying my unknown, but common, iris to iris-talk.

This iris is of IB or BB height and looks much like Wabash. I've been trying for years to identify it. It multiplies quite fast, and can be seen in many prairie gardens. I'd sure like to know the name of it!

It blooms with the IB's and if I recall, some SDB's are still blooming. Every older neighbourhood on the Canadian Prairies has a large clump. It's quite striking, I think. It's about 28" tall, including flower stalks. The flower is 4 to 5" in height. I'll take better pics this spring, including the base of the foliage.

I've included a link to my garden pic. Of all my unknowns, this one is really the one I'd truly like to call by it's correct name. This iris was the first iris I ever owned, gifted to me by a special friend in the mid '80's.

Thank you all for your help in trying to identify this iris. Some suggestions have already been made on the iris-photo group. I've been unable to find pics of Gaylord, Cantabile, and Criterion. I'll order them, plus Wabash, Shah Jehan and Bright Hour. In my search for pics, though, I've seen some wonderful irises that I NEED!
