I'm not disagreeing with anything said on this thread already, but want
to add that there are differences among cultivars in rhizomes shape and
size as well. For example, DUSKY CHALLENGER is prone to make longer,
skinnier rhizomes with fewer increases than many other cultivars. I
hate to think what they would look like with nutrient deficiencies.
And there was some discussion earlier about some of the arilbreds having
squattier rhizomes - almost spherical.
