It is a cantelope coloured SDB with a darker spot. It was growing in a
very wet garden area where I wasn't able to get the tiller in until
August. Everthing else in the surounding area suffered badly and many
rotted. This plant performed superbly and increased very well with no
rot. >
<G> Thanks for thinking of me Chuck, but poor drainage is the one iris
limitation that I don't have any problem at all with here. My <soil> is
gravelly loam, with as much as 60% gravel & rocks in some places.
Bigger problem here is huge fluctuations in moisture availability
(gravel dries out fast/heavy rain makes all water available - drought to
lush growing conditions) and huge week to week fluctuations in
temperature while things are actively growing (highs in the eighties to
lows in the teens are not that unusual here in March, & gravelly soil
heats and cools faster than soil).
Linda Mann east Tennessee USA zone 7/8
~19F last night, but as Betty sez, it's been quite cool with a lot of
frosts and freezes the last few weeks, so damage probably won't be any
worse than most years.
