Re: My trip to California

I just spent four days driving around San Diego and LaJolla, CA. The people I was with didn't have time to look up any iris gardens, but nowhere did I see any tall bearded irises. There were some spurias and Louisiana's, but no beardeds at all. I can see many more than that driving around Phoenix.
At my place half the irises are in bud now. Noreen's Delight, Soul Sister, Sterling Mistress and Pacific Belle, TBs, and Dawn Caress, Aril-bred are blooming. The seedlings, about 60 of them, will soon be ready to transplant, and the biggest temperature worry is heat. Temperatures of 90 degrees and above kill the pollen.

You shouldn't miss Ganna Walska Lotus Land. You'll see plants there
that are to be found nowhere else in the US. No irises, but you
  can't have everything.
