I know Iris Pseudacorus can handle a fair bit of water but how little can it

V. sez:
I found a large, blooming clump of pseudacorus underneath a highway overpass last year. It was near a stream, but not close enough to get roots to reach down. The soil was sand. So this clump got no direct sun at all, no rain at all, and only a marginal bit of moisture from the soil.
There is also a large clump in someone's yard near here that is planted on top of a slope in their front yard. It's not mulched, and never appears to be watered. Blooms every year.
All hail i. pseudacorus, the weed of irises!!!
