Debbie,
There are two irises with similar names, one of which agrees with the name
you stated and the other which was introduced closer to the time period you
mentioned:
FLAMINGO LAKE (Tell Muhlestein, 1969) TB 40" ML. S apricot-pink; F.
lavender; dull tangerine beard.
FLAMINGO LACE (Bion Tolman, 1971) TB 38" EM. Laced and ruffled medium pink
self; prominent ruffled stylearms; tangerine beard.
Both these irises were hybridized here in Utah (where we have exactly one
flamingo that has taken up residence on the Great Salt Lake - it escaped
from the SLC aviary and is living free and gorging itself on brine shrimp),
but I do not know of anyone who grows either of them, or of any commercial
source for either of them.
