(snip) I. aphylla has multi branching and buds. Most branch from
the base (within one inch of the rhizome). They throw multi
budded and branched seedlings when crossed with TB's. <<<

I. aphylla was a boon to those of us in colder climes. Grows
extremely well and blooms profusely here. My favorite class of
iris is fast becoming MTBs with the advances in the cultivars.
Most MTBs bloom here tall (taller than the registered height)
and bloom for long periods. They are smashing when planted in
groupings.

>>> Lynn Markham is working with aphylla and aphylla
derivatives Ken Fisher has been incorporating them in his lines
as has Terry
Aitken, and even Lynda Miller's husband. Cindy and Steffy Rust
are working on a line of reblooming iris out of aril using
aphylla derivatives. <<<

Lynn Markham's line plus the Craig's and others, have added so
much to my garden. Lynn Markham was my bearded iris 'teacher'
when I was going through AIS Judge's training and I know I
caught a lucky break. :-)

we can look at them - I will check)
