Another question from offlist. [my computer crashed just as I was
mailing this - apologies if this is a repeat]
<Do you grow any IBs? Are they easy to grow and flower for you?>
Goes without saying that this person means <in my crummy growing
conditions/benign neglect>
I do grow a few IBs - Ellen G sent me a big box of really nice IBs and
SDBs several years ago to 'babysit' for her while she was moving to a
new home/garden. I kept increases off the best of those, and all of
them have continued to do well here. I even have a few IB seedlings.
But my love is for the TBs, so I really haven't tried growing many IBs.
I'd say they generally grow at least as well for me as the TBs, maybe a
bit better. Flowering is generally earlier than the TBs so bloom is
more vulnerable to the inevitable erratic late spring killing freeze
damage.
