Chinese Treasure

Good morning folks - Chinese Treasure has done well for me and my iris buddy
for many years here in the East Texas humidity hole. She has sandy soil and I
have heavy clay/iron ore. It doesn't bloom every year but most years.
Another iris of similar color but a plicata that does well is Ghio's Cupid's Arrow.
Good Looking by Schreiner has never bloomed and I think I lost it the first
year. When one I particularly like does that I wait and see if it ever comes
up for sale at the Ft. Worth Iris Sale and if not, I never buy it again.
Although Ft. Worht has much better growing conditions, at least I know the darn
thing will grow somewhere in Texas. The FW Iris sale is absolutely great. It
is a 2 1/2 hour drive but I get up at the crack of dawn to be there when the
doors open. Lately the Ft. Worth Daylily Society has been having their sale at
the same time (in the same building no less) but iris is my priority and the
daylilies are pretty picked over by the time I make their sale. I think the
FWDS also has their spring sale at the same time of the FW Iris Show in the same
builiding, at least they did one year. That isn't so bad if you are not an
exhibitor.
