Dave,
There appears to be something aromatic in Denmark here.
A name by which an iris cultivar has already been registered is not supposed to be bestowed on another cultivar unless there is good reason to believe that the original possessor of the name is no longer in existence.
According to the Checklists (1939, 1979, 1989):
In 1924 the well-known early hybridizer, Miss Grace Sturtevant, registered and introduced a plicata TB seedling as PRINCE CHARMING.
In 1973 Sturtevant's PC was declared "obsolete", and the name was transferred to a blue-white TB seedling by the well-known contemporary hybridizer, Bryce Williamson.
In 1988 Williamson declared his own PC obsolete, and the name was transferred once again to a second Williamson seedling, this time a cream-white and lavender plicata, which was registered and introduced in that same year.
However, there is an obviously recent color photo on the HIPS website labelled as Sturtevant's PRINCE CHARMING, implying that it is not quite as obsolete as was assumed in 1973.
What is going on here?
It's almost enough to make one yearn for the good old days of Swerti vs. Swertii.

Did it again; need to read my posts more thoroughly before I send them.
This one isn't too confusing. I wrote:
"I just figured out that there are two 'Prince Charming' TB Iris. Didn't
know there was an older one - hardly ever look at Check Lists One is
Sturtevant 1924, and the other is Williamson 1988."
That got all messed up when I did some splicing and should read:
"I just figured out that there are two 'Prince Charming' TB Iris. One of
these is Sturtevant 1924, and the other is Williamson 1988". Didn't know
there was a newer one - hardly ever look at Check Lists newer than 1940!"
