GAIL AUSTIN GARDEN PERENNIALS
http://thegardensite.com/irises/austinperennials/
Today's web site announcement is a cyber garden that you will definitely want to see. Gail Austin's Garden Perennials has been completely updated for 2005. This site is hosted on our Iris Gardens Of The World portal and features some spectacular flower photography.
Gail Austin is a hybridizer of daylilies, Japanese irises, and clematis. Seedling pictures from Gail's hybridizing, featuring all three plants, can be seen in one of the galleries on the site.
The web site offerings for 2005 are limited to daylilies and Japanese irises. However, if you are in Portland and visit the garden you will see clematis, peonies, hellebores, ferns, hosta, bulb lilies, fuchsias, and many other perennial plants.
If you order Gail Austin's catalog then you will receive more than just a list of plants. It is full of information about Japanese irises and daylilies, and it includes a list of other perennial plants available locally. Inside you will also find a picture CD with over 400 digital images of flowers that are listed in the catalog. It is very user-friendly.
This year the galleries on the site for Japanese irises and daylilies feature larger pop-ups to highlight the detail of the flowers.
Last year Gail sold out of all her daylily seed. We'll have to wait until later this summer to see what will be available from her 2005 crosses.
Glorious gardening!
Bobby Baxter
