Thanks everybody for the suggestions & ideas.
I had forgotten about wipe applicators, & think I will invest in one
just to give myself more flexibility in timing.
The plastic bottle "cone" sounds like a great 'touchup' applicator, but
doesnt' appeal for the first going over each spring and wouldn't work
for killing back the tall growth of millet that usually takes over after
bloom season. But it might work well for getting at the grass and
competitive weeds among the self sowing larkspurs, Matricaria, and
cosmos.
In the mean time, I'm tempted to try a sponge mop - appeals to my sense
of humor. I stall forever about mopping my floors, but gardening is
different.....
