Gee, that must have been before I started wearing this notepad around my
neck to remind me of things <g>
Really glad to see such a high rate of germination, especially first
year, on this cross because I expect a <lot> of poor performers. Out of
a few dozen, surely there will be at least one that will thrive here &
carry enough of the iris heaven genes forward for us.
FEED BACK
Weaknesses - lots of foliage, few stalks, stalks and blooms strongly
affected by weather variability (stunted, frozen, low bud count, bunchy
blooms, failure to bloom etc etc).
Strengths - healthy foliage, fertile, potential for nice blooms and
stalks <if> it's possible to overcome the weather sensitivity.
ROMANTIC EVENING
Weaknesses - barely replaces itself each year, miniaturized by adverse
weather (hot & dry during bloom season) , small flowers, low bud count
here (climate effect?)
Strengths - reliable bloomer, fertile, just miniaturized (not deformed,
rotting, etc)
I'm hoping that FEED BACK can provide a better root system that will
take care of the miniaturization, low bud count, bunchy blooms.
ROMANTIC EVENING doesn't seem to be particularly sensitive to freeze
damage, so just <maybe> they will combine to make something that will
both bloom normally and be pretty.
And rebloom <g>
Haven't bothered to think about possible color/patterns that might turn
up.
Just thinking out loud....
<FEED BACK X ROMANTIC EVENING.>
