Linda, I know I'm not in the stressful climate you are interested in, but my 2 cents is that Wishful Thinking is a strong grower, It performed very well in my garden even when it had to compete with neighboring plants(non-iris).
Another Keppel which I never hear mentioned is Bel Esprit. It is a blue/yellow darktop out of Fogbound. This one grows extremely well here as well. I may use this in breeding along with Alpenview (per Neil Mogensens recommendation...)

Subject: [iris] TB: ?Wishful Thinking vs Fogbound?
WISHFUL THINKING was recommended to me a number of years ago by several
folks in Region 7 (KY/TN). I've had it for quite a few years, and while
blooms are sometimes frozen out, it has been healthy. It seems to be
thriving in an abandoned mixed bed, rescued last year (not reset, just
weeded, fertilized, limed, and heavily mulched).
It looks so good right now, I am wondering why I haven't tried to use it
before.
FOGBOUND is out in the regular rebloom rows, the 'best' soil in the
garden, where it languishes. Original start is on it's way to
disappearing, got another start last year, which is alive for now.
I keep hearing lots of good things about FOGBOUND as a parent, but am
curious to hear how it compares (health and reliability) to WISHFUL
THINKING, for those who have grown both.
Especially in parts of the country where some of the irises bred in dry
summer climates don't do too well.
