CULT:Early Season
Late this afternoon, March 27, I searched about a third of my iris beds.
Found stalks in several of the 1907 cross. This is Blatant X All Revved Up.
It produced over half a dozen rebloomers last summer and fall. One has a
stunted stalk with two branches showing and three or four additional, but later,
stalks. These is some evidence of freeze damage and the blooms may be
stunted.
Other seedlings are showing stalks. One stalk from Blue Jay Way X Clarence
is above the fans. One clump of Daughter of Stars is showing a couple of
stalks.
I didn't check for early stalks last year, but in earlier years April 1 was
the earliest I'd found stalks.
Seedlings are sprouting fast in this warm weather. Germination appears
acceptable. Weather is not!
