24oF here last night, but not too much damage, since it's been regularly chilly off and on, so not a lot of tender foliage out yet. I didn't bother to cover any of the irises or bring pots inside (other than this year's seedlings that were already up).
I go back and forth between despair over the lack of possibilities in surviving seedlings and enthusiasm over the possibilities in suriving seedlings <g> each time I walk the rows.
No sign of buds showing yet on the few SDBs here, & haven't checked the I. germanica under the eaves, which usually are the first to bloom.
Roundup'd a some of the grass between rows using a 2 litre cola bottle over the sprayer nozzle (thanks for that idea, whoever it was) to keep the spray on the ground.
Anybody seeing SDBs blooming in Tennessee yet? -- Linda Mann east Tennessee USA zone 7/8 East Tennessee Iris Society <http://www.DiscoverET.org/etis> Region 7, Kentucky-Tennessee <http://www.aisregion7.org> American Iris Society web site <http://www.irises.org> talk archives: <http://www.hort.net/lists/iris-talk/> photos archives: <http://www.hort.net/lists/iris-photos/> online R&I <http://www.irisregister.com> --------------------------------------------------------------------- To sign-off this list, send email to majordomo@hort.net with the message text UNSUBSCRIBE IRIS
