Seed pots

I spent the part of the last two days with my granddaughters transplanting
the 2008 crop of seedlings. Arthritis has limited my ability to get down on
the ground to work with the irises the way I like, so I have to cut back
even on seedlings. I only had five pots for a total of a little over one
hundred. I planted the seeds early in January. They came up early to
middle Feb. and are about three inches tall now.
I am worried about them though. I used Miracle Grow seed sprouting mix.
Apparently, it has water retention properties. I watered the pots no more
than once a week, but they always seemed to be wet. I accused some of my
helpers of watering them for me, but they all pleaded innocent. The little
plants have very weak roots, the weakest I have ever seen. The temperature
will be 90 degrees F. tomorrow. Then we are promised a cool down back to
the 70s. We got irrigation today. I just hope they make it.
