I muddied the waters with the comment about RENOWN X HoM giving tangerine bearded white & RENOWN giving yellow seedlings. Not saying I thought RENOWN has alternate yellow, just that I was surprised the cross produced a seedling with tangerine beard. Evidence that not only HoM may be at least tt, but that RENOWN also may be at least tt. I'd already seen enough tangerine beards from HoM X pink to be pretty sure HoM had at least tt, but had no idea RENOWN might also be tt till I saw the seedling.
But I could have - MASTERWORK "beards light red tangerine" from RENOWN X MESMERIZER. I've not been reading SA pedigrees & had missed it.
Because the seedling was white (based on what you said earlier), I presume the yellow in seedlings from RENOWN X pink (i.e., yellow based) is "regular", not alternate. So far, only a few RENOWN X pink seedlings, about half yellow, but too few to know what that means re ratios.
<Also one tangerine beard showed up in RENOWN X HoM. That was an even bigger
surprise. Lots of survivors from that cross. maybe 1/36? All from that cross have been white so far, but RENOWN does easily give yellow seedlings. More germinated this winter and last.> <So if Renown crossed with something that isn't yellow based, gives yellow, than that would be the recessive alternative yellow. Otherwise , can't tell.>
Ok, I think that's the limit of what my brain will absorb now without short circuiting.
