How does the spot pattern from I. pumila (and its ancestors?) differ from the spot pattern from I. variegata?
From looking at photos, it seems like the variegata spot is bigger (covers a larger portion of the falls) while the pumila spot (usually?) has a relatively much wider border and sometimes is split down the middle.
Is the reverse of the falls the same color as the ground color (standards and rim of falls) in both?
Would the seedling in this photo be considered pumila spot? http://www.hort.net/lists/iris-photos/may06/msg00330.html What about Zingarado (BB) = Zing Me X SilveradoBoth of these crosses look like they get their spots from Carpathia (pumila).
