This need not be useless information - I grow one Neomarica and two 
species of Dietes here in central Virginia.  They stay outside and do 
very well from late spring through fall, then they come inside for 
the winter.  If fact, the Neomarica is blooming right now (and it 
does look very much like a beardless iris).

However, I must agree with Clarence that they should not be called 
*irises.*   Just call them irids, which they are (besides, it's 
cool to have something different from the rest of the irises)
