Re: Hello Irislisters; OGB+ for NY

Scott, we're glad you introduced yourself with some fuel for the "OGB+ for
NY" fire!

I, for one, would love to see a list of recommendations for specific arilbred
varieties for NY and other cold climates with wet, sometimes humid summers.
I experimented with arilbreds years ago soon after joining AIS, and my
efforts were less than wildly successful.

I have raised Esther the Queen, Sheik, Bangladesh, Khyber Pass, and Mohr
Pretender successfully enough to get bloom on a pretty regular basis. But
I've lost many more, and gave up on some that survived, barely, but never
bloomed. Recently I put in Hoopla and Prairie Thunder; I hope they may bloom
this season.

They are in raised beds, in rather gravelly soil. I think both of those
factors give me an advantage over the clay-like soil that is more common
around here. Any other tips would also be welcome.
