Many irises bred before 1960 are quite outstanding.  This is not only true
with beardless irises...in which age has not been accepted as a criterion of
quality by those who love them....but also with bearded irises including
TB's.  There is no bearded iris any more beautiful than MME CHEREAU (Lemon
