Have you tried growing remontant iris and if you have what kind of results
have you experienced? With you being a higher zone # I wondered if you had
tried rebloomers.
Yes, I grow rebloomers and do get rebloom. For those who care, I'm
in zone 7b, even though Albuquerque is over 5000 feet and has four
seasons (fortunately for us, winter is short!). However, I don't get
the results that some do, because I dig and replant everything in my
garden every year (well, almost everything). Rebloomers seem to sulk
with this treatment, probably for a bunch of reasons. I plan to set
up a special area for rebloomers that I'll only dig every other year.
I can't let clumps go for more than 2 years, because they get totally
overgrown and difficult to dig. Anything that could go for more than
2 years in my garden without being dug is generally a poor grower.
I am using those plants that rebloom for me in the hybridizing that
I'm doing. Scott Jordan lives across town from me and he and his
wife have a bunch of rebloomers that do very well for them.
