Obviously, the previous message was not meant to be sent to the entire iris
list (the test message) -- sorry about that. I'm having trouble sending mail
directly to Mike Lowe -- my mailer keeps bouncing it, claiming that there's no
such user. The address that I have (from the server) is MBLOWE@EARTHLINK.NET
and I've tried various combinations of capitalizations, none of which work.
So I'm sending this message through the iris list, which I wish that I didn't
have to do. I'll keep trying to figure out what's wrong with address that I
have for Mike.
Hi Mike,
I have a beautiful older, but unknown iris, that has been growing in my
garden for the last 5 years (a friend gave it to me). It's a large, mostly
white, TB with faint purple/blue plicata markings. Since I grow Los Angeles
and San Francisco (allegedly), I believe that it is neither of them. I think
that it's a tetraploid from the 50s or later, but that's a guess. Anyway,
I'd love to find out what it is. I know that you do a lot of identifications
for the HIPS folks (yes, I am a member) and I wondered if you'd be willing to
grow a piece of this if I sent it to you. Perhaps you'd recognize it when it
blooms. I like this iris a lot -- for me, it's a good grower and bloomer,
but none of the "old timers" in my iris clubs have any idea what it is.

p.s. I believe you and Anne sat at my table at the awards dinner in York.
