Bee was indeed a remarkable person. Her writings on irises, not to mention
The World of Irises, were learned, original and incisive. In mentioning her
many innovations with different types of irises I wanted to add her
remarkable work with versicolors...she was, as in so many endeavors, far
ahead of the crowd! And anyone who saw her Japanese iris TRANCE at the Maine
JI Convention a few years ago will never forget it....it was voted the best
iris at the Convention! Also, I would like to mention her favorite poem,
"Pied Beauty", by Gerald Manley Hopkins. It is one of my favorites too, and
a tribute I know she would appreciate:

Glory be to God for dappled things----
