Re: addresses & vars

cynthia - stockton iris gardens, p o box 55195, stockton, ca 95205.

i have to add that i didn't order from stockton last year - when they moved
and fancified their catalog, they reduced the number of varieties they offer
substantially. plus the last order i got from them had all the roots cut
off! try to plant that and get it to stay in the ground. and some of the
bonus iris were mislabelled (sky surf turned out to be sky hooks, which
sulked for a year). they have been so generous and helpful, and had so many
catastrophes (fire, death, moving), that i forgive all of this, but decided i
would try some other places.

the 'new' place i tried last year is mt view iris. they also sent a lot of
extras, but since this batch hasn't been through the spring rot season yet, i
don't know how successful the mt view folks were at guessing which ones would
do well here.

some other hybridizers whose varieties seem to be doing ok here (but that i
don't have many of) are dunn, lauer, .... i can see it's time to update my
lists of survivors.

i hear all kinds of good things about innerst and his iris, but the ones i
have tried just don't like it here. some get molliegrubs, some are very
healthy looking but never bloom. his supercharged plicata whose name escapes
me at the moment is the only one that has actually bloomed for me, and it was
too short. so, ....
