Nicki asks about siberians in pots.
Yes, it can be done. Pot them from plants in your garden at the normal
division time for your area. Use largish chunks in largish pots. Use a John
Innes type compost - i.e. loam content is important for moisture retention. A
handful of very well rotted manure (if you can get it) right at the bottom of
the pot is also good - make sure it is not in contact with the roots when you
pot the plant - let the plant grow down to the manure and watch for that
growth spurt!
We do this and take the results to Chelsea and other flower shows.
