I have been reading these messages on the 1976 R&I and, I fear, having less
than good Christian, Buddhist, Jewish, Hindu or Shinto thoughts!  The
situation is not acceptable, and I am embarrassed for AIS---and I apologize
AGAIN.  (But please know that I, too, have been waiting to receive my copy of
the 1976 R&I!!!!)  

Our AIS President had received assurances just a week or so ago that all the
Publications Sales backlogs were eliminated, and that this would not happen
again.  I told Dave about my order for the R&I, and said it would be a test
case---well, we know what has happened.  

Please know that Jerry is a very good man who does the Publications job on a
totally volunteer basis---but it is obvious now that the Publications
position is too big for someone who has a demanding "outside" job.  

I have concluded that we probably should not delay but rather farm some of
the work out.  I think we could have someone else handle all of the R&I
Books, and maybe someone else handle The World of Irises.  If this were done
there would no longer be just one address for the AIS Sales Items, but it
would break up what seems to have become a too demanding workload.  I am
going to call Dave Niswonger today and suggest this be done as soon as
possible.  Please bear with us a little longer---and if anyone wants to
voluteer to handle the R&I Lists or The World of Irises, please let me
know---I will pass the information on---believe me, I will!  Again, I do
apologize for the delays in getting AIS publications----Clarence Mahan in VA
